Schweet!

11 am update: St. Louis Today has a story with a section headlined Schwieger Rushes In that includes quotes. Find it here.

Dartmouth grad Nick Schwieger lines up a catch at the St. Louis Rams' minicamp yesterday. . . . News out of the CFL can be sporadic but the Hamilton TigerCats begin the preseason tonight and if the roster is correct, Dartmouth grad Matt Oh is still with the team as a defensive end. . . . No word at this point on what Shawn Abuhoff's plans are regarding giving pro football another try after the Ticats let him go.
At the annual baseball banquet last night That Certain Hanover High Senior was presented the Coaches Award, one of my favorite honors. Always a funny kid, he got some laughs when he started to rise out of his seat at the presentation of the Cup for highest batting average. Truth be told, he did have the highest average on the team at .444 but batting just nine times didn't exactly qualify him for the distinction, something he knew full well. For what it's worth, he also had the highest fielding percentage, handling all eight chances without an error ;-)

Speaking of baseball, the Green Machine – which I've been helping coach since TCHHS was our starting catcher on a championship team – plays in the North Division championship game tonight if the weather holds. A win in that contest would bring a Saturday morning date with the South Division champion.
