TV Or Not TV?

The Ivy League announced its 2012 football TV schedule and it includes the Penn at Dartmouth game on Sept. 29. That's the only Dartmouth appearance on the Ivy package.

All games are on NBC Sports Network (formerly Versus) except the Oct. 13 Bucknell at Harvard game, which is on CBS Sports Network.

The schedule:
 Sept. 22 Yale at Cornell, 1 p.m.
Sept. 22 Harvard at Brown, 4:30 p.m.
Sept. 29 Penn at Dartmouth, noon
Oct. 13 Brown at Princeton, noon.
(Oct. 13 Bucknell at Harvard, 3:30 p.m.)*
Oct. 20 Penn at Yale, noon
Nov. 10 Harvard at Penn, noon
Nov. 17 Yale at Harvard, noon
* CBS Sports Network

Appearances on Ivy TV package:
Harvard 3 (not counting CBS Sports Network)
Yale 3
Penn 3
Brown 2
Cornell 1
Princeton 1
Dartmouth 1
Columbia 0

That Columbia doesn't have a game in the Ivy TV package is unacceptable. Assuming that the dates of games can't be changed, the most logical choice for a Columbia game would have been the Oct. 20 contest against Dartmouth in New York City. Instead the decision was made to carry Penn and Yale, which each have three games in the package. It's surprising and disappointing that the Ivy League didn't strongarm NBC Sports Network into carrying at least one Columbia game.

Find the Ivy League release here and Dartmouth's release here.

(NBC Sports Network is not carried over the air. Some of you with skeleton packages on your satellite or cable systems – like us – will not be able to get the games.)
A site call New Hampshire Notebook has a lengthy story and interview with Dan Gorman, the 6-foot-4 wide receiver from Hanover who decided to stay home and play football at Dartmouth.
Exciting times for That Certain Hanover High Graduate. After spending the spring term living with a grandmother and studying Spanish in Barcelona, she is enjoying a whirlwind 10-day tour in Europe. Yesterday she was in Rome and happened, by accident, to see the Pope. She has a quick note on her blog which is called Eat Dessert First.

TCHHG might be even more excited that she's been chosen Dartmouth Student Assembly secretary for summer term.
Our unbeaten Green Machine baseball team plays in the second round of the Cal Ripken playoffs this evening. If we advance we play again Monday although I would miss that game because Mrs. BGA and I will be driving to New York City to pick up a Certain World Traveler, who will arrive home in time for her brother's graduation at the end of the week.
