All-League Postings

The unfortunately named College Sports Madness website posted a preseason All-Ivy League football team last week and what it shows is no surprise. Harvard tops the list with 17 players spread over the three teams chosen, and Dartmouth trails the field with four players selected.

Chosen from the Big Green were Pat Lahey on the second-team offensive line and Bronson Green as a second-team linebacker.

Named to the third team were Teddy Reed on the defensive line and Mike Banaciski at defensive back.

Total selections per team (first team-second team-third team):

17 - Harvard (8-4-5)
12 - Yale (3-5-4)
11 - Cornell (5-6-0)
11 - Penn (3-1-7)
9 - Princeton (3-1-7)
8 - Columbia (2-3-3)
7 - Brown (2-3-2)
4 - Dartmouth (0-2-2)
The Patriot League has released its preseason poll and Week 2 road opponent Holy Cross has been chosen second. The poll (first-place votes):

1. Lehigh 60 points (11)
2. Holy Cross 46 (1)
3. Colgate 36
4. Georgetown 33 (2)
5. Lafayette 32
6. Bucknell 15

Six Holy Cross players were named to the PL preseason team:

WR Gerald Mistretta
OL Sean Whited
PK John Macomber

DL Jack Maliska
LB Michael Tucker
DB Tom Mannix

Holy Cross's 6-5 record last year include a 25-17 win over the Big Green in Worcester. This year's game is being played at Fitton Field once again as Dartmouth reworks its schedule to even out travel in alternating years.
