The Ivy Football Association site has listed the honorees for its next dinner in New York City, to be held in February 7, 2013. Dartmouth's honoree this time around will be Willie Bogan '71. While the IFA capsule refers to Bogan as, "Senior Executive, McKesson Corporation, Community Leader," this Ivy League Black History page has a more complete look at his story. It is introduced this way:
No one could run with an opportunity quite like Willie Bogan. He was a star football player at Dartmouth who turned his classroom work into a Rhodes Scholarship and the Academic All-America Hall of Fame.Bogan was joined by Murry Bowden '71 and Lloyd Lee '98 in the Big Green Alert's 50-year anniversary of Ivy League football Dartmouth team. Here's what was written about him at the time that team was chosen:
Bogan’s rangy and athletic presence in the Green secondary prompted most opponents to avoid his area of the field. As Dartmouth’s safety in 1969 and 1970, Bogan won All-Ivy and All-East recognition as a senior.
