BGA Photo Day

Is the Ivy League in the FCS, the FBS or the BCS? Or maybe NBC or CBS? Confused? So are a lot of people. From a story about possible changes in nomenclature:
Football is the only NCAA Division I sport that is divided into two levels, the one that fills 100,000-seat stadiums and the one that gets no respect.
and . . .
''To be honest, Football Championship Subdivision is a mouthful, and it doesn't make the case for our Division I stature really much better than the I-AA moniker did,'' (Patty Viverito, commissioner of the Missouri Valley Football Conference) said. ''We've tried to fix this for years. It's a dilemma.''
A reminder that if you are a subscriber to BGA Premium and are having difficulty signing in, you have two very good options. The first is to try your password/username with or without caps. Amazing how many times it is that capital letter/non-capital that is tripping you up.

The second option is the Lost Password link at the top of the page. Really. It works ;-)
I won't lie to you. Yesterday was a long day, starting with the morning practice.

After writing that up at the local library I shot a few pictures of the new Arts building at Dartmouth, which is just a block from the Howe Library. It's been hidden behind all kinds of barriers and fences and things until recently so I thought you'd appreciate a look.

Then it was off to the afternoon practice, which featured a visit from a Manchester, NH, TV station, a couple of torrential downpours and a rainbow.

Then it was a quick stop by the breakup party for our Green Machine Cal Ripken team that pulled off a neat hat trick this year: Regular-season champions, Three-Pitch Tournament Champions, North-South Champions. Missed the food while I was at practice but had some laughs and some tears and hugs saying goodbye to our four "graduating seniors" and their parents, who have been with us for three years. Then it was home to write up the second Dartmouth practice.

Today's practice is this afternoon on Memorial Field. Check in tonight to read all about it.

And now for those photos (click on them to enlarge, and if you are smart enough to have a Mac, you can click twice and *really* supersize them ;-) . . .

Storm warning during Monday's practice

Look closely and you can see the rainbow.

Coach Buddy Teevens loads barrels on the
golf cart as the rain returns at the end of practice.

The barriers are down at the new Arts Center.

Large panels facing the Arts Center give
the Hop a splash of color.

A long night ended with our 22-1-1 Green Machine's
annual breakup party at Storr's Pond.

The kids and their families (and the coaches ;-) had
a good time.
