Inching Closer

The Big Green will be on the field today at 1 p.m. Scrimmaging is tentatively slated to start at 1:30. Notice the italics?

There will be full coverage of the action on tonight's Green Alert Premium.

Dartmouth opens up at home against Butler two weeks from today so if you haven't yet signed up for BGA there's still time. But don't wait because you have a lot of catch-up reading to do!
OK, time for a primer on the Dartmouth's official football video offerings. If you haven't heard about the Big Green Insider, it's a subscription package that, among other things, carries HD streaming video of Dartmouth home games featuring "instant replay, multiple cameras and graphics." (Not that the Penn game will be on delay because it is part of the NBC Sports package.)

Thanks to Columbia and Princeton using the same web service there's a reciprocal agreement among the schools and those games are also part of the package.

The Insider will also carry "condensed" versions of the archived games so you can watch just the action.

Not a subscriber? Dartmouth will have a free highlight package from all of the games carried by the Insider available within several hours of the game.

One more thing. There already are some video interviews with Coach Buddy Teevens freely available to everyone here.

Editor's Note: No, I don't get a commission on Insider subscriptions, and yeah, it's probably not the best business model for BGA Premium to be steering you in that direction ;-) But the stuff is good and excitement about the program helps everyone, so enjoy.
The local Patch publication has a story about record-setting St. Louis quarterback Thomas Militello starting over as a freshman at Dartmouth. Click here.
Saturday Blitz believes it is time for the Ivy League to join the playoff party and thinks the better Ancient Eight champions would hold up well. From the column:

The Ivy League is playing a high quality of football. There are future NFL’ers among the Ancient Eight. Moreover, recent years have shown something of an athletic renaissance for the League. Harvard basketball cracked the Top 25 in basketball, and Cornell played in the Sweet 16 just two seasons ago. Football should have the opportunity to playing on its own national stage.
The ship’s unfortunately sailed for Tim Murphy’s loaded 2012 Crimson, but with the expansion of the playoffs in 2013, the time is right for the Ancient Eight to get a little more modern.
Two of Dartmouth's three nonconference opponents lost their openers Thursday night. Sacred Heart will be trying to avoid the fate that befell Holy Cross and Butler when it visits Morgan State this afternoon.
Twitter feed for Nate Eachus' agent reporting the free agent RB from Colgate has made the KC Chiefs' 53-man roster. Good for him, Colgate, the Patriot League and academic football conferences!
