Speaking of the 5 p.m., kickoff, with the weather expected to be superb we're mulling over the idea of another Big Green Alert hike. I've got an easy trail in mind that ends with absolutely magnificent views. I'm going to check it out today to see if it's too muddy (some of the trails are wet right now) and if there's interest we may do it again!

With yesterday's news that Minnesota high school football standout Danny McManus intends to follow brothers Tim '11 and Ryan '15 to Dartmouth a couple of interesting emails landed here at the world headquarters of Big Green Alert ;-)First was a reminder that Dartmouth will have at least one McManus on the roster for an entire decade. With T-Mac playing as a freshman in 2007 and D-Mac playing through the fall of 2016, that would be 10 seasons of Big Green football. And it will be particularly special for R-Mac, who overlapped with his older brother for one season (because of a medical redshirt) and will have two seasons with his younger brother.

The other note of interest that made its way here points out that with three sibling athletes at Dartmouth the McMany (sorry ;-) will follow in the footsteps of at least a trio of other relatively recent athletic families. In the '80s there were the three multi-sport Lavery brothers. Peter '83, Patrick '84 and Jim '86. Peter earned three letters in football, Pat played through his junior year and Jim played as a freshman before concentrating on baseball. There's ice hockey and track in the Lavery mix as well.Overlapping with the Lavery brothers was the Teevens family. Buddy '79 you know about. He was followed by Shaun '82, another football/hockey type, and Moira '87, a cross country and track standout.
Coming a little later were the Palmer brothers, who all served as Dartmouth basketball captains. Walter '90, went on to play a couple of years in the NBA. Crawford '93, played three years at Duke before transferring to Dartmouth. Asa '98 was the third brother to captain the Big Green.

Here's one for the books. The record books, actually. A high school quarterback in Kansas rushed for 659 yards last week. Find the story here. The 6-5, 240-pound QB has signed with Kansas State.

For some nice views around campus and a little background on the how and why of campus design, check out the video When Dartmouth Builds. At the 5:10 mark of the 7-minute video there's a quick view of Memorial Field with the towering visiting stands that were removed when Floren Varsity House was built. The video was posted on the new site called Master Plan: News and Events. I stumbled across that while visiting the always interesting website Dartmo. The Buildings of Dartmouth College.
