Even Watching Will Wear You Out

Spring practice is the easy part for the Dartmouth football team. Check out what the Big Green went through in the run-up to the start of practice:

Former Dartmouth head football coach John Lyons, now the defensive coordinator at New Hampshire, has added a hall of fame honor to his resume. (link) Lyons was 44-15-1 in his first six seasons as the Big Green head coach with two Ivy League championships and a 10-0 record in 1996 before the bottom fell out. He finished 60-68-1 over 13 seasons.
Sports Business Daily has a story about the new Ivy League streaming video agreement that includes this:
“Each of the schools has been streaming content on their own platforms, which meant that you could watch your team play if they’re at home, but if you wanted to see them play on the road, you had to buy that other school’s package too,” said Ivy League Exec Dir Robin Harris. “The digital network will be a huge step forward because now we’ll be able to offer all of the digital content on one platform.”
Add to the list of Ivy Leaguers getting a shot at pro football the Penn duo of offensive lineman Joe Bonadies and punter Scott Lopano. Bonadies is headed to the Vikings while Lopano earned an invitation to the Buccaneer rookie camp.

Cornell offensive lineman JC Tretter was drafted by the Packers (25th pick of the fourth round), Harvard's Kyle Juszczyk by the Ravens (33rd pick of the fourth round, 130th overall) and Princeton defensive end Mike Catapano by the Chiefs (1st pick of the seventh round, 207th overall).

Cornell wide receiver Luke Trasker signed a free agent deal with the Chargers, Penn linebacker Brandon Copeland is getting a shot with the Ravens and Columbia defensive end Josh Martin earned a look from the Chiefs.
The Dartmouth has a story under the headline, Dartmouth strives to boost image. Among other things it points out that there's a new route for tour guides to take prospective students and their families that avoids Webster Avenue/AKA Frat Row, and puts more emphasis on academic buildings.

Editor's Note: You may have read this here before but our tour of Dartmouth was probably the worst college tour we took. While it probably didn't help that we already knew the school, neither did it help that we never saw a dorm room, didn't go into the cafeteria and neither saw nor heard mention of any athletic facilities. At other schools – including so-called "elite" schools – we not only went in the cafeteria but some gave us vouchers for lunch, we went into an actual dorm room, and we were at least informed of the athletic facilities and given directions to check them out on our own if we wanted.

On a side note, it has been reported that Dartmouth protesters have taken to disrupting some tours, shouting "Don't come here," and chanting "Dartmouth supports . . ."
The final week of spring football practice begins this afternoon. Tonight's report on BGA Premium will include a look at the Big Green secondary this spring.
