The Ivy League has announced that it has reached an agreement to offer complete video packages in partnership with NeuLion. Find a press release here.
While the Ivy release version is certainly clearer than this release (check out that last section if you like puzzlers) it wasn't clear enough for this non-Ivy brain. So here are a couple of things I asked about that might help some of you:
Q: If I have a subscription to Dartmouth's "Insider" (or the premium version of a particular school's video programming) will I now be able to watch every Ivy road football game my team plays via that subscription? In other words, can I watch the Big Green football team play at Brown this fall with my Big Green Insider subscription?
A: Yes. (You will also get your team's non-conference home football games.)
I'm tempted to stop right there but I'll give you one more.
Q: Can I watch two OTHER schools play, meaning not the school I signed up with?
A: Yes, if you sign up for the Ivy League package. In other words, a Dartmouth fan could watch the Harvard-Princeton football game.
Got it?
And if you are hard-core, there will be functionality allowing you, if your internet service is fast enough, to watch any or all of the entire four-game Ivy League football slate at once via the Ivy League package.
Oh yeah, and it's not just a football package but that's as far as I'm going because the goal here was to clear things up, not make them more confusing ;-)
The service is slated to begin in August.
