I was walking past Memorial Field the other day and for the first time I read this plaque and really took time to think about what it said. Did you realize today's Dartmouth players are practicing and playing in a stadium Civil War veterans thought an appropriate venue to honor those who fought for freedom after them? I mean, Civil War veterans erected the plaque? Check it out:
