The moose that visited Dartmouth last week is darting down the sidewalk across the street from Alumni Gym in this photo that was emailed all over campus. |
If you've been around for a while this is old news (an oxymoron, no?) but newbies might be interested to know that Gordon Gee, the departing Ohio State president, was the president of Brown from 1998-2000. Find his Brown bio here.
While Gee's tenure at Brown didn't end as badly as his tenure at Ohio State, it was still a bumpy ride. Check out this link from Wikipedia that includes a photo of the E. Gordon Gee Lavatory Complex.

Thanks to a loyal reader for a note about former Dartmouth Pea Green freshman football player-turned-rugby standout Alex Mooney '93 running for congress in West Virginia. He is a former Maryland state senator. Read more about him here.(And yes, for those of you new to Dartmouth, the freshman team used to be called the Pea Green.)

Ed Lucas is becoming the Jeremy Lin of the 2013 major league baseball season – the Ivy Leaguer who came out of nowhere. The one-year Dartmouth quarterback got two more hits last night and through his first five games with the Miami Marlins is 8-for-13 at the plate. That's a .615 batting average. He made team history on Sunday when he was the quickest Marlins rookie to post a four-hit game. (link)Lucas, by the way, is the first former Dartmouth player to play in the big leagues since lefthander Mike Remlinger '88 retired after the 2005 season. Rem works these days as a "Life and Transition Coach" in the Phoenix area, helping former athletes find success after their careers end.
