From a WCIV TV story out of South Carolina:
Playing two sports in college is a huge challenge for anyone, but handling an Ivy League workload makes it even more difficult. But one James Island grad is doing just that.
Bo knows football.
"It's better than I thought; I thought it would be a bunch of rich private school kids, that's not the case at all. It's great football," said Dartmouth College wide receiver Bo Patterson.
And Bo knows baseball.

Dartmouth's Nov. 16 game at Brown in Week 9 will be at 12:30 p.m. The game with the Bears had been the final TBA on the Dartmouth schedule until Brown announced game times yesterday.
Dartmouth's 1:30 kickoff for its four afternoon games is a later start time than any of its opponents have for afternoon games. Many start at 1, while some kick off at noon or 12:30.
With an eye toward giving students more time to sleep in and still get to the games, the Big Green went to 1:30 kickoffs in 2009 after a few years of starting games at 12:30. Going back a bit more, the 1998 season saw Dartmouth tee it up at noon for four of its five games.
What game time do you prefer?
2013 Dartmouth Game Times
Sept. 21 at Butler, 6 p.m.
Sept. 28 Holy Cross, 7 p.m.
Oct. 5 at Penn, 1 p.m.
Oct. 12 Yale, 1:30 p.m.
Oct. 9 Bucknell, 1:30 p.m.
Oct. 26 Columbia, 1:30 p.m.
Nov. 2 at Harvard 5 p.m.
Nov. 9 Cornell, 1:30 p.m.
Nov. 16 at Brown, 12:30 p.m.
Nov. 23 Princeton, 1:30 p.m.
For what it's worth, there's always a chance one Dartmouth game time could be changed as the TV schedule is worked out.

More bios from the Dartmouth football web page have been updated. A chosen highlight from the 2012 season taken directly from the another batch of updated bios:
Junior corner Chai Reece . . . started every game at cornerback for the Big Green
Senior wide receiver Clay Robbins . . . tied for the junior varsity lead with eight receptions in the three games
Junior offensive lineman Sean Ronan . . . split time at left guard in all 10 games and was on the field for close to half of the snaps, earning more action as the season unfolded

The Charleston Mail in West Virginia has a story about two high schoolers representing their state in USA Football Under-17 and Under-16 teams. From the story:
Bailey's team will begin its work Saturday at Dartmouth University in Massachusetts and will run through July 19.
The guess here is that the state is right but the school is wrong and it's UMass-Dartmouth.

More rain yesterday. Three monsoon-like drenchings lasting 15 minutes or so. The newspaper has more stories about roads being washed out. Doors in our house are sticking. There are a couple of trenches at the end of our driveway where the dirt road has eroded from the runoff. The lawn is too wet to mow and the vegetables are crying out for sunshine. They are not alone.
The Dartmouth had a story earlier this week, even before this latest round of rain, that started this way:
Students across campus have traded in their bikinis for umbrellas and rain jackets to face the incessant rainstorms that have drenched the start of summer term. The National Weather Service issued several local flood warnings over the past few weeks, the most recent of which ended at midnight last night.
Yesterday’s warning stated that streams and rivers in New Hampshire may rise, and urged residents to create emergency kits and seal their basements. In case you are wondering, everything in our basement is now up on pallets, the sky is dreary this morning and the forecast for today is . . . wait for it . . . "p.m. showers."
