Bios Cont'd

Bios on the Dartmouth football web page continue to be updated. Today: a chosen highlight from the 2012 season taken directly from the another batch of updated bios:

Sophomore linebacker Will McNamara . . .  (brought) down six Cornell ball carriers, four of which came on consecutive plays with one going for a two-yard loss

Sophomore quarterback Thomas Millitello . . . completed 30-of-57 passes (52.6 pct.) for 445 yards and three touchdowns with just one interception in the three jayvee contests

Sophomore tight end Jay Moran . . . hauled in two passes for 35 yards, one a five-yard touchdown to tie the score in the fourth quarter, in a 21-14 triumph over Middlebury (jayvees)

Junior quarterback Alex Park . . . recorded second-best completion percentage (62.6) in the Ivy League and the second-best in Dartmouth history (minimum 15 attempts per game)

Junior tailback Cody Patch . . . had a fine outing against Middlebury (jayvees), gaining 20 yards on two rushes and 11 more on two receptions

Junior wide receiver Bo Patterson . . . collected 163 yards, the third-most on the squad, and a team-best 27.2 yards per catch

Senior tailback Dominick Pierre . . . one of four Ivy League running backs to average at least 90 yards a game on the ground

Senior defensive tackle Martin Pomykala . . . moved into the starting lineup at defensive tackle for every game and recorded at least one tackle in all 10
There aren't many people associated with one Ivy League football team for more than three decades but that was the case with Pete Noyes, a longtime coach at Cornell and then an administrator, who is retiring after 36 years with the Big Red. Click here for a story about Noyes, who served as Bob Blackman's defensive coordinator in Ithaca.
Penn's tradition of tossing toast somehow topped Florida State's flaming spear in the Sirius College Sports tradition contest. LINK Penn's tradition will now square off against Mississippi State's cow bells. ;-)

Between 2008 and 2016 no fewer than 56 colleges will have added football programs. Check out the numbers reported by the National Football Foundation. Of the record 12 schools that will begin play this fall, four will be in the FCS as noted by The Sports Network:

  • Charlotte
  • Stetson
  • Mercer
  • Houston Baptist
