More Johnny Football

By now anyone with Internet access, a TV or a radio knows that Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel was sent home from the Manning Passing Academy. (Do you think they ever considered calling it the Manning Handing Off Academy or the Manning Scrambling Academy? Probably not ;-)

A regular reader has shared a link revealing that Dartmouth coach Buddy Teevens, one of the associate directors of the Louisiana-based camp, found himself smack dab in the middle of the Johnny Manziel saga. Read all about it here.

In case you are curious about just what the MPA is, you can learn a little more about it here.

One last note on Johnny Manziel. Did you know his name is really Jonathan? It probably should be Jonny Football but don't expect that to catch on.
The Business Journal has a story under the headline, Immelt-Goodell connection led to $40M concussion project between GE, NFL.

Immelt '78, of course, is a former teammate of Buddy Teevens. From the story:
General Electric CEO Jeff Immelt’s love of football and his friendship with National Football League commissioner Roger Goodell brought the two organizations together on a $40 million research-and-development partnership to improve diagnosis and treatment of athlete concussions.
And . . .
Immelt not only loves watching NFL games, he also played offensive line at Dartmouth, where he received the Earl Hamilton Varsity Award for friendship and character.
When former quarterback Josh Cohen '09 was in Hanover and his lanky kid brother Jake was in town, the two could often be found playing pickup ball in Leede Arena. Jake, who would have looked pretty good in green and flirted with going to Penn, ended up instead a two-time Southern Conference Player of the Year as a skilled 6-foot-10 standout at Davidson. Currently playing for the Phoenix Suns summer league team, the younger Cohen recently signed a multi-year contract with  Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv of the Israeli Super League. From a story in the Times of Israel:
Cohen grew up in the Philadelphia suburb of Berwyn, Pennsylvania in an athletic family. His older brother, Josh, played football at Dartmouth College, and his father had been a basketball player at Haverford College.
