Mystery Man

Not really sure about this but in a Florida Sun Sentinel story about how members of a 2008 youth football team have gone on to success there's the following note about where they are headed now that they've graduated from high school (italics are mine):
Franklin notably received a football scholarship to Florida State University. Ham received a football scholarship to Prairie View A&M, Jones will play football at Dartmouth, and Hude will play for West Virginia Wesleyan.
Jones would be Tyler Jones, a 6-foot, 175-pound quarterback from Fort Lauderdale High School.

Can't say for sure if the paper has it right. He hasn't been listed either as a recruit or a walk-on at Dartmouth but you can learn more about him and watch a video at this link.
If you've been watching the headlines you know former Dartmouth interim president Carol Folt has walked into an athletic hornets nest as the new chancellor at North Carolina. From a story on the WRAL sports web page:
The new chancellor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill says her transition from Dartmouth has been a smooth one.
Carol Folt spoke for about 25 minutes Thursday during her first board of trustees meeting at the school.
Folt took over at UNC earlier this month after the resignation of Holden Thorp, who had been the university's chancellor since 2008. He resigned last year after his leadership was marred by a string of scandals involving academic fraud, improper travel spending by fundraisers, and special treatment for athletes.
Speaking to reporters during a break in the meeting, she said it's her "obligation and interest" to keep informed of potential NCAA issues at the school.
She said she has been "fully informed" and has talked "quite a bit with Bubba" Cunningham, UNC's athletic director, and basketball coach Roy Williams.
John Urschel, the 6-3, 307-pound Penn State offensive lineman and math major with a 4.0 GPA who is working on his second masters degree, teaches an undergraduate course and had an academic paper entitled Instabilities in the Sun-Jupiter-Asteroid Three Body Problem in the scholarly journal Celestial Mechanics and Dynamical Astronomy, gave a speech at the Big 10 media gathering. It's well worth watching:

Urschel might have chosen Penn State over a chance to go to Princeton the first time around (story) but it would hardly be a surprise if he ends up somewhere in the Ivy League when his football career is over and he's working on his doctorate.

If you'd prefer, you can read his speech here, although the time to watch it is time well spent.
BGA becomes TKI again today as I'll be at the Tommy Keane Invitational golf tournament at Hanover Country Club. Check out a story I wrote yesterday about the tournament and the son of Dartmouth's only four-time golf All-American.
