Fearful Forecast? Not

Dana Barbaro makes a grab at Friday's practice.
Once the Ivy League season begins I do the Fearful Forecast on BGA Premium, in which each week I pick the outcome of games featuring Dartmouth opponents, offering up a few pithy comments along the way. I like to think they are usually funny, but that's for you to decide.

Given that the Ivies are still three full weeks from kicking off there aren't enough games for a full Fearful Forecast (say that three times fast) so simple predictions will have to suffice this week. Here they are:

  • Holy Cross at Bryant (3 p.m.) – Crusaders cruise, 35-21
  • Butler at No. 6 South Dakota State (7 p.m) – South Dakota State 42, Butler 17

If you want to know what's happening with Game One opponent Butler, good luck. But for a little more background on Holy Cross, check out the Holy Cross Football Show video featuring head coach (and former Dartmouth assistant) Tom Gilmore.
Jake Novak over at Roar Lions 2013 offers up his Ivy League prediction today with relatively detailed looks at each team. Here's how he sees the race:

1.       Harvard
2.       Penn
3.       Dartmouth
4.       Brown
5.       Columbia
6.       Princeton
7.       Yale
8.       Cornell

Jake's intro to Dartmouth begins this way:
The Big Green had an extremely promising 2012 season, both because they increased their win total and because they found a major new star at QB.
Have you downloaded the Ivy League football media guide yet? You can find it here.

BGA Take: If you are a newcomer to the Ivy League, the media guide is a must-have. I just wish it had a little more current information, such as rosters, an outlook on each team and something akin to the Patriot League's five questions on each team.
Off to Practice No. 4 in a few minutes. Be sure to check BGA Premium later today for a wrap. Here are photos I shot at yesterday's session that were posted on the other site:
