Get The Picture

10:30 a.m. update:

The Dartmouth sports website has a little more info on the scoreboard here. From that story:
The process for obtaining Hanover approval for the project was unusually complex, as the town’s zoning ordinance did not include any provision for a permanent video display. In town-wide balloting last May, a zoning amendment was passed by 81 percent of the voters, clearing the way for Dartmouth to seek project approval from Hanover’s Zoning and Planning Boards. Both boards granted their approval in July, allowing the college to place the order for the new scoreboard.
The murmurs were everywhere but now the news has finally gone public. Dartmouth's Memorial Field will have a video scoreboard this fall.

From a Dartmouth NOW release:
A generous gift by the Stephen Lewinstein family, Classes of 1963 and 1998, has enabled the Dartmouth athletics department to purchase a state-of-the-art, high-definition video scoreboard for Memorial Field. With a 16-foot-high by 23-foot-wide LED video display, the scoreboard will provide Big Green football fans with instant replays, game statistics, vivid graphics, colorful animations, and sponsor recognition.
More from the release:
It is expected to be ready for Dartmouth’s Homecoming football game against Yale on October 12 and possibly for the home opener, a night game against Holy Cross on September 28.  The current scoreboard was donated 17 years ago by the Class of 1966, whose generosity will be recognized with a plaque at Memorial Field.
When the installation is complete Yale Bowl will be the only Ivy League facility without a video scoreboard.
The Boston Globe had its Ivy League preview in yesterday. Nothing new to report if you have been paying attention.
Tulsa fell last night to Bowling Green, 34-7, in one of the opening games of the 2013 season. There were a bunch of games last night so maybe you are wondering what's interesting about Tulsa's game?

Jerry Uwaezuoke is a 6-foot-3, 270-pound defensive tackle from Houston who was signed and sealed but not delivered to Dartmouth a year ago. The redshirt freshman's saga went something like this:

He was an official member of the Big Green recruiting class.

Then he switched his mind and decided to go to Tulsa.

Then he rethought things and said he was going to come to Hanover.

Then the dust settled and he was at Tulsa.

Interestingly, his Tulsa bio reveals that he is majoring in exercise and sports science, something he most definitely would not have been studying at Dartmouth.
Check BGA Premium tonight for coverage of today's Dartmouth football practice. Today is the first day the team will be in "uppers," aka shoulder pads.
