Indy Bound

The new video scoreboard at Dartmouth
Thanks for a new BGA regular for sharing another thought for something to do if you are in Indianapolis this weekend for the Dartmouth-Butler game. Worth visiting is the NCAA Hall of Champions downtown. Filled with interactive exhibits and photo opportunities, it's just $5 for an adult and $3 for kids. Check out their website.

Yesterday's BGA Premium had a selection of other places you might like to visit on or near the Butler campus.
Growing up a couple of hours south of Indianapolis in Louisville, Ky., was former Dartmouth defensive lineman Eddie Smith '12. Another BGA reader shared this link to an Ebay listing for Smith's playing card with the Lehigh Valley Steel Hawks of the Professional Indoor Football League. That sent me scurrying to find out more.

Smith's roster page – such as it is – can be found here.

He is listed as a returnee for the 2014 season (they play in the spring) in a release that says:
Eddie Smith was solid on the defensive line all season; he had eight tackles, one for a loss, and one sack in 2013.
The PIFL had teams in Knoxville, Tenn., Alabama, Richmond, Columbus, Albany and the Lehigh Valley last year.
That's it for now because we are off to Indy this morning. Check BGA Premium today for the Fearful Forecast and a Butler preview. Look for a "running" game story tomorrow night. (In journalistic parlance, a "running" game story is one written as the game progresses without much analysis or much in the way of quotes and is filed soon after the contest ends.) We'll be flying back soon after the game and there won't be much of an opportunity to work up an in-depth story. That will come Sunday when I'll have a sidebar and a follow for you.
