TV Or Not TV, That Is The Question

Dartmouth quarterback Dalyn Williams was chosen the Big Green men's athlete of the week. He's featured in the back end of this video:

A Dartmouth release yesterday added the Oct. 12 Homecoming game against Yale to the Big Green football TV schedule for 2013. Like Saturday's contest against Holy Cross, the game will be carried nationally on the Fox College Sports Network. The Nov. 9 game in Hanover against Cornell will be carried on the NBCSports Network.

The good news is that if your cable/satellite system carries those stations you can watch the games. The bad news is some of us don't have that level of package. ;-(

The TV broadcasts necessitate changes in the Big Green Insider video stream of the games. From the release:

Due to broadcasting rights, Dartmouth will not be able to offer live streams of these games over the Big Green Insider through the Ivy Digital Network.  The Holy Cross and Yale games will be available on-demand on the Big Green Insider 24 hours after the initial broadcast.  The Cornell game on NBC will be available 7 days after the broadcast.  We regret any inconvenience that this may cause our Big Green Insider/Ivy Digital Network subscribers and hope that you will be able to access the live television broadcasts.  The national television exposure for our football program is invaluable in recruiting future generations of Dartmouth football players.

The Sports Network has its picks in for this weekend's games and it goes with:

  • Cornell over Yale
  • Harvard over Brown
  • Monmouth over Columbia
  • Villanova over Penn
  • Princeton over Georgetown
And . . .
  • Holy Cross over Dartmouth
OK, as long as we're at it, in other games involving Big Green opponents:
  • Sacred Heart over Bucknelll
  • Jacksonville over Butler

Bill Johnson
Dartmouth lost a legend this week with the passing of longtime golf coach Bill Johnson in retirement in North Carolina. Johnson was the Big Green men's golf coach and head professional at Hanover Country Club for 37 years. A remarkably innovative teacher, Johnson was inducted into the Golf Coaches of America Hall of Fame in 1990. Find a posting about Bill here.
