Wilk Goes To 2-0

Former Dartmouth assistant head coach Chris Wilkerson is 2-0 as head coach at the University of Chicago as the Maroons followed their 17-0 win over Beloit with a 23-13 victory over Concordia Chicago. They open their home season Saturday night against Elmhurst.
The daily Dartmouth has a story about the new video scoreboard that has risen behind the south end zone at Memorial Field. Sophomore quarterback Thomas Militello tells the school paper:
“The scoreboard looks great and we’re all excited about it. They’re adding a huge high-def screen up there, so it’ll make it much more interesting for the fans watching the games, which is exciting for both us and the fans.”
Yale Bowl is now the only Ivy League stadium without video capability.
Something to think about. Fordham got the jump on the rest of the Patriot League by adding scholarships in 2010. Flash forward and the Rams are coming off a win over FBS member Temple. They also have a victory over Villanova of the CAA and another over Rhode Island.

Here's the question: Will the rest of the Patriot League catch up? If it does it will spell trouble for the Ivy League schedule makers.

The Sports Network writes about Fordham's chances of getting an at-large bid to the playoffs. From the story:
The other PL schools have since caught up to Fordham's forward thinking and begun to allow scholarship players, but the Rams are still ineligible for the automatic bid until next year - which doesn't help them out as they begin to realize that, yes, they can make the playoffs this year.
This week's Sagarin Ratings with last week in parentheses. They will get a lot more interesting next week after the Ivies have actually won and lost games.

No one rallies around each other quite like those associated with the Dartmouth Rugby Football Club. On Saturday friends and family of the late 1993 club president Dann Angeloff presented a donation of $125,000 to the DFRC to honor his memory with an endowment known as the Dann Angeloff '93 Fund. Angeloff was a magna cum laude Dartmouth graduate with an MBA from Harvard Business School and a major in the Marines who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He also was a terrific rugby player on very good teams. He died in January.

The Optimist and The Pessimist made their season debut last night on BGA Premium. Perhaps it is a little cockiness sneaking through but The Optimist seemed to be having more fun than The Pessimist. It will be interesting to see how they feel next Monday.

BGA Premium will continue daily coverage tonight with a look at today's news from Memorial Field. With classes beginning and practice in the late afternoon-early evening, look for tonight's post by 10 p.m. Eastern or so.
