Of Penn And Yale

Dartmouth-Penn highlights:

Yale's game notes for Saturday have been posted here. The Yale notes put the Bulldogs' 24-10 win over Cal Poly on Saturday in historical perspective:
In its most significant non-league win of the I-AA/FCS era, the Elis held the Mustangs to a season low points and total yards. It knocked Cal Poly out of both top 25 national FCS polls and put Yale in the “others receiving votes” category.
Both Tyler Varga's absence from last year's Dartmouth game and the Big Green having to use a cut-down water bottle for a kicking tee are rehashed on the New Haven Register's Portal 31 blog with this comment:
Needless to say, there’s some bad blood here.
The New Haven Register writes about Henry Furman's journey from Yale junior varsity quarterback to wide receiver as a junior back to quarterback for the 3-0 Bulldogs this fall.

Of Furman's move the paper writes:
He was one of the fastest players on the team and wanted to contribute. New coach Tony Reno didn’t want to see his talent go to waste, so he moved him to wide receiver. It was very much a mutual decision.
“The year off at wide receiver really helped me get back to playing football and having fun and making plays,” Furman said.
Yale's high-octane offense gets most of the attention but the defensive effort against Cal Poly was a key to the win. Read about the "D" that will try to slow down Dartmouth in a story in the Yale Daily News.
Here is your schedule of Dartmouth Homecoming events.

It was another of those mornings when I had to run back in to get the camera.
