Bushnell Finalists Announced

Three of the four finalists for the Bushnell Ivy League offensive and defensive players of the year announced Tuesday were pretty much locks. The fourth? That was the interesting one.

Chosen as finalists for the defensive player of the year were Princeton defensive lineman Caraun Reid and Harvard DL Zach Hodges. They were no-brainers from this perspective.

The no-brainer on the offensive side was Princeton quarterback Quinn Epperly.

It was the second offensive finalist who was the biggest question. In addition to the player selected, Cornell quarterback Jeff Mathews and Dartmouth tailback Dominick Pierre had to be in the conversation. Harvard tailback Paul Stanton also figured to get some attention.

The fourth finalist? Brown tailback John Spooney, who led the Ivies in rushing with 130.0 yards per game while averaging a terrific 7.8 yards per carry.

The Ivy League release on the finalists can be found here.

The winners will be announced on Monday. The presentation will begin at 12:30 p.m. and will be streamed free on The Ivy League Digital Network.
