No surprise in the Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl game at Dartmouth's Memorial Field last evening. New Hampshire has now won more games in a row than Vermont has won in the 61-year history of the game after the Granite State team posted a 42-6 victory.New Hampshire now has won 14 consecutive games to run its lead in the annual contest to 46-13-2.
Despite gerrymandering over recent years to try to make the game more competitive, New Hampshire has outscored the Green Mountain Boys, 518-151, since the last Vermont win.
New Hampshire ran 11 plays for 221 yards while taking a 20-0 lead in the first quarter yesterday. Vermont ran 15 plays for two yards. New Hampshire sprinted out to a 33-6 halftime lead and cruised to its 24th win in 26 years despite suffering four turnovers.

So you want to be a football coach? When Dartmouth scheduled this year's opener against Central Connecticut it seemed the Big Green would be going up against a team led by Jeff McInerny. But McInerny, who took the helm in 2006 and never had a losing record until 2011, went 10-23 over the past three years and stepped down following last season saying, "There are things, at 53, that I want to do."
