Big Day Follows Big Game

With the Super Bowl behind us the next significant event on the football docket is National Signing Day, which takes place Wednesday.

While a lot of Ivy League-bound athletes will be taking part by signing something this week, it won't be a Letter of Intent because the Ivies don't use it. That said, each year BGA Daily posts Signing Day photos taken by families, friends, schools, you name it. Scroll toward the bottom of THIS PAGE to see some of last year's pictures.

I have a favor to ask. I'm wondering if you would be kind enough to send along pictures and/or links to pictures and stories this week? I go a little bonkers trying to dig this stuff up and your help would be much appreciated.

If you have a photo or link to send along, CLICK HERE and it will address an email to me with the subject SigningDay. Then just include the link or photo. Thanks!
That out of the way, here's what we know and what we think we know about the recruiting class so far. Names in boldface are confirmed early decision. Names in italics have been culled from Internet or media reports.

One of the great things about having a DVR is the ability to fast-forward through commercials and concentrate on the game. We joked last night that if the game was bad we could fast-forward through the action to get to the commercials. Needless to say we didn't do that.

We did fast-forward through some of the halftime show. While the technology on display was amazing, this was a football game, and I can't help but think I'd rather see the Ohio State marching band's regular show. There's a reason why THIS VIDEO has received almost 17 million views. (If nothing else, watch through to see the band do Harry Potter, Jurassic Park and Pirates of the Caribbean formations.)
Speaking of commercials, a local attorney (and friend) bought a Super Bowl spot on our NBC station last night. You can be sure he was thrilled that the Patriots made it it the big game and that it was close enough that a lot of eyes were on the screen when his commercial was broadcast. It had me laughing. With his permission, here's a commercial you didn't see unless you live in these parts:
