Monday, Monday

Happy to say it wasn't that cold when I took the pup for a walk this morning. It was just 14.8 below but did feel a lot colder with the wind absolutely howling and blowing some of the powder that fell Saturday into our faces.
For what it's worth, Vanderbilt was slated to kick off "spring" football practice today. The Dukies, meanwhile, are in their second week. Dartmouth is scheduled to begin eight weeks from tomorrow, on April 7.
Happy President's Day. The National Football Foundation has bestowed the NFF Gold Medal on seven presidents over the years. The organization's newsletter writes about the connection between the chief executives and the game HERE.

From the newsletter:
“Football commands a special place in our society,” said NFF President & CEO Steve Hatchell. “It teaches life lessons. It creates opportunities. It brings communities together. It breaks down barriers, and it instills a competitive spirit that extends far beyond the gridiron. All of these attributes are critical to the fabric of our society. As we celebrate President’s Day, it’s important to take stock of the insights of our nation’s greatest leaders, and their perspective on football’s role in strengthening our country."
This is either a stroke of genius or an indication that the world of college football has finally gone mad. Make that completely mad.

NJ.com is reporting that Rutgers may be hiring a marketing executive "with no known football experience, as the program's recruiting coordinator." Check out the story HERE.

Where it gets dicey for Rutgers is that the proposed recruiting coordinator earlier donated $1 million toward head coach Kyle Flood's salary. (LINK)

If that isn't troubling enough, scroll down that second story and check out the button the exec was wearing on his Packers sweatshirt in a screenshot the newspaper took from his Twitter account.
