Stadium Update

An anticipated 200 or so flatbed trailers have started to deliver upwards of 900 pieces of precast concrete to the Memorial Field home stands construction project. Given that the delivery site is so small, only one truck at a time can be on site at a time, so plans call for eight deliveries a day over about a two-month period. Exit 18 off Interstate 89 (the Route 120 exit) is being used for staging of deliveries of the precast concrete. Many of the pieces had been stored about 25 miles away at an old airport runway at Miller Construction, just south of Windsor, Vt., since the stadium project was shelved in 2008 because of the economic downturn.

The grandstand is expected to be operational for the Big Green's home opener against Sacred Heart on Sept. 26.
