Tuesday Newsday

Not much new to the naked eye at Memorial Field yesterday but this time at least I had my camera with me so I felt duty bound to snap a few pix. Perhaps of most note is the brickwork on the flanks of the press box nearing completion. (Click pictures to enlarge.)
Ben Kepley

Wandering out on the field I ran into Ben Kepley, taking advantage of Dartmouth's Sophomore Summer to get some punting practice in on a sweltering day in Hanover. Like everyone else in the program he said he can't wait for the upcoming season.

Kepley averaged 38.9 yards per punt last fall with 10 of his 39 punts inside the 20 and 15 fair caught. He was selected to the All-Ivy League second team.
Dartmouth quarterback Dalyn Williams is one of 22 players named to the STATS FCS Offensive Player of the Year Watch List. Find a Dartmouth release HERE.

Green Alert Take: The STATS/TSN release LINK notes that one player from each FCS conference was named to the list. I understand why STATS would go in that direction, but when a cynic reads that the first question is, Did player X from conference Y with just one player on the list get there because he deserved to be there, or just because they needed someone from his conference? That's not a question anyone should ask regarding Williams. He flat-out belongs on the list.
Former Dartmouth quarterback Alex Jenny '10 gets a brief mention in a New Orleans Times-Picayune retrospective on the Manning Passing Academy. The story is under the heading, Manning Passing Academy is proving ground, incubator for quarterbacks of all levels. (LINK)
Jason Blydell '08 played football and baseball at Dartmouth and like a lot of college athletes he had his father to thank for helping him along the way. Now a captain in the Marine Corps, Blydell gets a mention in a Lynn (Mass.) Journal STORY about the North Shore Baseball League and local community coming together to support his father, Jeff in his fight again melanoma.
