Saturday Stuff

Dartmouth will holds its (non-tackling) Green-White scrimmage this morning on Memorial Field. Like the team, the stadium is rounding into shape. Here are a few snaps taken yesterday of the outside of the facility:

The barricades and fences are down at the historic front of the rebuilt Memorial Field home stands. This is looking  toward Lebanon Street. (Click pictures to enlarge.)
Cleanup is well underway on the staging area in front of the stadium.
The "Friends" area on the north side of the new grandstand has been graded and is just about ready for seeding.
Week 5 Dartmouth opponent Central Connecticut State opened its season last night with a 20-14 home loss to Lehigh. The Mountain Hawks built a 17-0 lead in the first half and were up, 20-7, until the Blue Devils scored late in the fourth quarter.

Lehigh had 23 first downs to Central Connecticut's 14, and outgained the home team, 445 yards to 274.

For a little perspective, Lehigh was chosen to finish fifth in the seven-team Patriot League after struggling to a 3-8 record. Central Connecticut was picked sixth in the seven-team Northeast Conference after finishing 3-9 a year ago.
