Meet An Old Friend

One of the treats when Dartmouth plays Brown each year is the chance to see Joe Leslie, now in his 11th seasons as the Bears' tight ends coach. Leslie earned three Ivy League championship rings as a player at Dartmouth, and was on the Big Green staff for 11 years before moving to Brown. Here's a quick feature on Leslie, who coached Brown coach Phil Estes at the University of New Hampshire:

From a Dartmouth release:
The College Football Performance Awards announced its Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Defensive Awards Watch List this week, and three members of the Dartmouth Big Green were recognized — free safety David Caldwell, and linebackers Will McNamara and Folarin Orimolade.
The list includes 32 defensive backs, 32 linebackers and 34 defensive linemen from the FCS, but all FCS players remain eligible for the award throughout the season. The award winners will be announced on Jan. 13, 2016.

Green Alert Take: Good for the Dartmouth three, but apparently Harvard must be playing some really good team defense to not have a single player listed. Surprising, too, that there's no one from Columbia on the list because the Lions lead the league in sacks and third-down defense, and trail only Dartmouth and Harvard in total defense and scoring defense.
Speaking of Columbia, the Harvard Crimson has a column about the Lions under the headline, After Years of Blowouts, Columbia Proves It Belongs. The column had a tidbit about Columbia's eight-point loss to Harvard Saturday that I had not seen:
Save a 12-man substitution penalty, and the Lions would have had the ball back with a minute left on the clock and the chance to march down the field to tie the game.
Harvard Magazine also lauds Columbia's play.
WEDNESDAY UPDATE: Apparently the air date for the follow has not been officially decided yet.

A BGA subscriber shared this yesterday from a newsletter he received:
Dartmouth’s Mobile Virtual Player (MVP)—a robotic tackling dummy developed at Dartmouth to provide a safer, more effective means to train for contact—will be featured on the November 15th episode of 60 Minutes.
Asking around at practice yesterday I wasn't able to confirm that the segment will air this Sunday and a Google search came up empty. The expectation has been that the piece would go this week or next, so the guess here is that someone somewhere knows something ;-)
