A Day In the Life: Buddy Teevens

The Chicago Tribune touched base with Will McNamara in the aftermath of his runner-up finish for the Bushnell Cup as Ivy League defensive player of the year at the awards ceremony in New York City. "Willie Mac" told the paper:
"It was an awesome experience. This was something that I had set a goal for myself to achieve. It was great to go to New York City and hang out with my family and friends. We saw a play, and we saw the city, and we were able to take a look around. We got a small glimpse of New York, and that was cool.
"To be up for that award means a lot to me and my family. It's kind of tough not to win, but it's all good."
A Bangor Daily News story listed potential candidates for the vacant head football coaching position at Maine and a mention of Dartmouth caught my eye. From the story (italics are mine):
Among possible UMaine candidates serving as FCS coordinators are: Kevin Bourgoin (2005-present as coach at UMaine), associate head coach/offensive coordinator; Jared Backus (1999-2001), associate head coach/defensive coordinator, Dartmouth; Kevin Cahill (2008-2011), pass game coordinator, Yale; Dennis Dottin-Carter (2008-2012), co-defensive coordinator, Delaware; Mickey Fein (2001-2002), offensive coordinator, Lafayette; Mike Kelleher (1996), defensive coordinator, Brown; and Steve Vashel (2009-2011), defensive coordinator, Yale.
Now that was interesting. Jared Backus at Dartmouth? Didn't ring a bell, so I Googled him. Ah, OK. Turns out he's the associate head coach at Cornell. Find his bio HERE.

Could Dartmouth actually lose an assistant coach this year? Sure. When you have the kind of success Dartmouth has had for the past several years you become a marketable entity and people come after you. But this time it was a false alarm.
