Rob Talley, who spent eight years on the Dartmouth coaching staff under John Lyons, eventually serving as defensive coordinator, is stepping down as head coach at Division II Stonehill to become the director of development for the athletics department at California State University-Chico.

Stonehill had suffered through 10 consecutive losing seasons prior to Talley's arrival, going winless one time and twice posting just a single victory. Talley told the Enterprise News:
“My first season, we were 5-5 and you thought we won the Super Bowl the way everybody was so excited about it. This past season, we were 7-4 and there was disappointment."
The New England Football Writers coach of the year in 2013 finished 48-46 overall and 39-36 in conference play.

From the story:
After nearly a decade at Stonehill, Talley and his family were looking to move to the West Coast. His wife, Sarah, is from northern California, and they have two young sons, Jackson and Spencer.
“I knew at some point I wanted to transition out of coaching,’’ said Talley, a standout defensive back at Boston University. “I didn’t know it was going to happen this early, but the opportunity came and we feel real good about it."
