There's a football connection in the Dartmouth baseball team's stunning 1-0 win over Miami yesterday. The winning run was scored by freshman centerfielder and leadoff hitter Trevor Johnson, whose father, Mark '90, was a record-setting Dartmouth quarterback before playing seven years in the big leagues with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Anaheim Angels and New York Mets as a first baseman/outfielder. Trevor's mother, Jennifer '90, was a track athlete for the Big Green.
Mark Johnson graduated with Dartmouth records for pass attempts in a game, season and career, completions in a season and career, and yards gained passing in a career. Along with fellow future big leaguer Mike Remlinger, Johnson helped Dartmouth to the NCAA Tournament as a first baseman and southpaw pitcher.

Dartmouth men's basketball (7-19, 4-9) snuck past Penn in the final seconds last night, 76-74, to keep its hopes alive of slipping into the four-team Ivy League tournament. Unfortunately, there are still several hurdles remaining, including finishing the regular season with a win over a 20-6 Princeton team that is 13-0 in Ivy League play and has won its last 16 games.
