Signing Day (The Original)

Today is the traditional National Signing Day. Since BGA Daily came to this platform it has been by far the busiest day of the year in terms of page views. And by far the longest day of the year for me.

Whether that will be the case today is yet to be seen.

What is also yet to be seen is what the introduction of a December Signing Day will mean to today's annual college football holiday. FBS coaches weren't quite sure when the NCAA OK'd the earlier signing day, but as it turned out many of the Power Five schools just about filled out their classes in December.

FCS coaches weren't sure, but a lot of their players "signed" in December as well.

Nor were the Ivy League coaches entirely sure what it meant to them. Remember, the Ivies don't recognize the National Letter of Intent so other schools could swoop in back in December and "sign" players the Ivies covet. Of course, they already could, and occasionally did, in February.

Here's another question to be answered with some of the shine taken off today's Signing Day: Will there be a lot of  seniors and their families at high schools "signing" unofficially with Ivy League schools today? Dunno. But if they are, and if those photos arrive in the BGA Daily in box, you'll find them here. So send them along. In previous years I've tried to update hourly when and if new info comes in.

To email me with updates, corrections and photos/links CLICK HERE That will address an email with the subject line, SigningDay. And yes, it's perfectly OK for you to do that ;-)

Oh yeah, there's one more question. Make that two. Will any new names surface today? And will one or more of them have QB in front of them?

With the usual warnings about apologies for errors, here's what we think we know of the Dartmouth class we are watching today:
