Breaking New Ground

Dartmouth football coach Buddy Teevens is welcoming a pair of groundbreaking coaching interns during preseason camp. From a Dartmouth release about the two women coming to Hanover:
Chenell Tillman-Brooks and Callie Brownson will serve as coaching interns during the team's preseason camp.
The duo will be full members of the coaching staff for the first two weeks of preseason camp. Due to NCAA regulations, they will not be allowed to instruct on the field, but they will take part in all of the team activities, from meetings on the recruiting process, strength and conditioning, practice and game planning, and film evaluation, as well as staff meetings and personnel discussions. They will have a presence on the field during practices, however, supporting and organizing drills, providing offensive and defensive looks to give context, and offering feedback to the staff.
STATS, the bible of the FCS, has a brief story HERE.

Green Alert Take: I spoke with Coach Teevens about his new coaching interns a couple of weeks ago and will have a story on BGA Premium in the coming days. One thing that stood out from our conversation is that the women were already coaching the game – in one case youth football – and Teevens believes that sharing the safety initiatives his staff uses with coaches who work with children and inexperienced players is valuable and important.

Cortez Hankton, another coach Teevens brought in, spent three years after Dartmouth at Vanderbilt and is now at Georgia. CLICK HERE to watch a mic'd up video with the wide receivers coach who was both immensely popular and successful in Hanover.
