Names In The News

Craig Haley over at STATS FCS Football has a posting of 25 names to know in FCS 2019 and popping in at No. 13 is Dartmouth corner Isiah Swann.

Craig notes Swann . . .
"Led the FCS with nine interceptions in only 10 games last season." (LINK)
The only other member of the "25 Names to Know" of local interest is No. 21, who Dartmouth will see in its home opener. Again from the Haley piece:
"Nick Wheeler, Colgate, DT, Sr.: The anchor of Colgate's fierce defense which ranked No. 1 in the FCS last season."
SB Nation has a story about Utah State football rehiring Gary Andersen as head coach. (LINK) A piece that considers how successful coaches are upon to their return to previous positions includes this:
There are examples of success at other levels — Dartmouth’s Buddy Teevens is thriving in his second stint there — but on average, things don’t seem to work out as we hope.
Speaking of coaches moving on . . .

ESPN is reporting that Dartmouth alum Courtney Banghart will be leaving Princeton after her über-successful run as head coach to take over the North Carolina program. From the ESPN piece:
She is 254-103 in 12 seasons, though more than a third of those losses came during her first two seasons. In the years since, she has won nearly 78 percent of her games, dating to the 2009-10 season, with three perfect runs through Ivy League play and the past two Ivy League tournament titles.
Green Alert Take: I covered Courtney as a player and later an assistant coach at Dartmouth and believe UNC hasn't just hit a home run but hit a game-seven grand slam. I couldn't be happier for her.

Green Alert Take II: This is a huge plus for Dartmouth women's basketball. Not only can it take pride in having one of its own coaching at a traditional nation powerhouse, but now the Big Green won't have to go head-to-head with her on the recruiting trail and face her twice a year on the hardwood.
