No Surprise

Dartmouth corner Isiah Swann has been named to the STATS All-America preseason first team after winning the Bushnell Cup as the Ivy League defensive player of the year and sweeping All-America honors. The STATS release above can be found HERE and the Dartmouth release is HERE.

Swann, of course, led the nation in interceptions with nine a year ago.

Green Alert Take: I have a lot of respect for Chuck Burton, executive editor of the College Sports Journal, who has done yeoman work with his Lehigh Football Nation site. I rather suspect he's going to be on an island with the pick. We trade occasional emails and I may be touching base with him when the season is over ;-)
The Patriot League has released its preseason poll and preseason all-league teams and it should surprise absolutely no one that Colgate was predicted to repeat as champion, earning 12 of the 14 first-place votes. That essentially made the Raiders the unanimous choice because voters (head coaches and SIDs) were not allowed to vote for their team or players.

Colgate also had the preseason offensive player of the year in quarterback Grant Breneman and the preseason defensive player of the year in lineman Nick Wheeler. When the dust cleared the Raiders had a whopping 10 of the 29 honorees.

Dartmouth and Colgate meet Sept. 28 on Memorial Field, one week after the Big Green opens at Jacksonville.
Speaking of the Dolphins, they will have a familiar face on the sidelines or in the press box this year. And if you don't recognized his face you might get a hint who he is by looking at his feet.

Joining the Pioneer Football League program as an offensive analyst and also slated to work with special teams is former Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson, whose nickname "Shoelaces," makes reference to his habit of playing with untied shoes. Robinson spent time as a running back with the Jacksonville Jaguars and played this spring in the Alliance of American Football. has a story about Robinson joining the Dolphins program HERE.

That story, by the way, notes that Dartmouth's game one opponent opens camp TODAY.
And finally, in honor of That Certain Dartmouth '14:
