The "Gray Lady" And Ivy League Football

The New York Times writes about the Ivy League season finally opening HERE.

From the story:
“We definitely are very philosophically driven, so there has to be rationale where a change truly benefits the student-athletes,” said Robin Harris, the Ivy League executive director, who is the athletics conduit to the college presidents.
Green Alert Take: Would it not truly benefit the football student-athletes if they were accorded the same privilege that all of their fellow Ivy League student-athletes are accorded? That would be the chance to advance to the NCAA playoffs and try to prove themselves against the best in the country.
Dartmouth receiver Drew Estrada and safety Ryan Roegge were named to the Ivy League's weekly honor roll for their play Saturday at Jacksonville.

Green Alert Take: Estrada picked the wrong Saturday to have such a remarkable game given what offensive player of the week EJ Perry did against Bryant. As I wrote Saturday about the only thing Estrada didn't do was pilot the plane home. A receiver rushing for 79 yards on three carries, catching six passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns, and returning two punts for 52 yards sure seems more deserving than simply having his name listed after the words Honor Roll but it's hard to argue with Perry's selection.
The Dartmouth has a recap of Saturday's win over Jacksonville HERE.

The Offshore Wise Guys have spoken and have installed Dartmouth as a 15-point favorite over Colgate Saturday night.

Green Alert Take: Tell me you saw that coming in the preseason ;-)

Elsewhere, the OWG have:
Harvard a 20.5-point favorite at home against Brown.
Yale a 14.5-point favorite at home against Cornell.
Columbia a 13.5-point favorite at home against Georgetown.
Penn a 13.5-point favorite at Lafayette.
Princeton a 26-point favorite at Bucknell.

Jacksonville an 11-point favorite over DIII Ave Maria.
Marist an 8.5-point underdog at home against Drake.

Totally missed this season preview last week on the Ivy League website:

It's back to practice this afternoon for Dartmouth football as it prepares for the Saturday night opener against Colgate. Be sure to check BGA Premium tonight for full coverage. And in case you missed it, The Optimist and The Pessimist squared off for the first time this fall last night ;-)
And yes, Ivy League football fans, Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead. (LINK)
