While We Wait For The Real Thing . . . And Wait . . . And Wait

With Dartmouth and Yale projected to be in the fight for the 2019 Ivy League championship Lee Corso grabs the iconic helmet and picks the Big Green to knock off the Bulldogs in a computerized version of the game posted last month.

Green Alert Take: You can catch the whole game HERE but you won't ever get the 50 minutes and 33 seconds you spent watching it back. ;-)

Green Alert Take II: If you don't like how the game turned out don't worry. Given those uniforms, this wasn't the 2019 game.
After the first full weekend of play the STATS Top-25 sees Princeton come in at No. 26, Colgate at 29, Dartmouth at 33 and Yale at 42. Colgate dropped out of the Top 25 after suffering its second loss and Princeton also fell out of the Top 25 for not playing. . . .

The Harvard Crimson has an inspiring story about paralyzed Harvard football player Ben Abercrombie returning to school this fall, two years after he was injured in his first college football game. Find the story HERE.
Only a Game, the WBUR radio program distributed by National Public Radio, had a 12-minute piece about Middlebury College grad-turned-NFL kicker Stephen Hauschka a little over a week ago. You can listen to the story or read it HERE.

Green Alert Take: I clearly remember the Dartmouth jayvees playing Middlebury and commenting to coach Buddy Teevens that the kid kicking for the Midd Kidds sure would have looked good on the other side of the field ;-)

As it turns out, Hauschka isn't the only former NESCAC (New England Small College Athletic Conference) kicker making headlines. Eric Sachse, a graduate of Trinity – another of the NESCAC "Little Ivies" – went 5-for-5 on field goal attempts and 3-for-3 on PATs to help Boise State upend Florida State last weekend. He earned Mountain West co-special teams player of the week after he tied the Boise State record for field goals in a game. (LINK)

The Idaho Statesman has a video with the former Trinity kicker explaining how he ended up at Boise State as a grad transfer HERE.
Former Dartmouth right-hander Cole Sulser '12 will be making his major league debut with the Tampa Bay Rays. (LINK)

Speaking of Dartmouth pitchers, former Sulser teammate Kyle Hendricks '12 struck out seven and allowed just three hits and one walk last night in six innings for the Chicago Cubs but was not involved in the decision. Hendricks is pitching to a 3.39 ERA this year, bolstered by a glittering 1.77 at home.

Green Alert Take: Not a bad Dartmouth pitching staff back then, huh?
