I used to joke all the time that Dartmouth should recruit more in Canada if, for no other reason, because our northern neighbor offers the rare opportunity for Big Green coaches to tell potential recruits, "Come south to college." ;-)
Former tailback Ryder Stone of Alberta and kicker David Smith of Quebec did just that, and both made a big impact in Hanover. Former Yale tailback Tyler Varga of Ontario wasn't too shabby either, making it all the way to the NFL.
Dartmouth coach Buddy Teevens and offensive line coach Keith Clark will be speaking at the NIKE Coach of the Year Southern Ontario-Burlington clinic next month and who knows? Maybe someone at the event will steer the next Chuba Hubbard – the NCAA's leading rusher from Oklahoma State via Alberta – their way.
