Impressive

A double-dose of BGA Daily today.

Before we catch up with Dartmouth head coach Buddy Teevens on this site a little later in the day here are a few things to check out this morning:

Dartmouth corner Isiah Swann had a Pro Day with some pretty good numbers:

Dartmouth football's Instagram account has come alive with a look at how some of its current players are doing their strength training away from campus. (You can read more about that in this afternoon's posting.)

Dartmouth has officially offered admission to 1,881 applicants. That's an acceptance rate of 8.8 percent. (LINK)
From the Axios website:
The NCAA delivered the blow yesterday, announcing that it will distribute just $225 million to Division I conferences and schools for 2020 — less than half of the $600 million that had originally been budgeted.
And . . .
This massive slashing of revenue distribution will affect athletic departments big and small, "likely starting with staffing reductions or salary freezes and eventually causing schools to reduce scholarships and potentially cut sports entirely," writes The Athletic's Nicole Auerbach
And . . .
The college sports world was already living in a new financial reality before yesterday's announcement, but now that they know the extent of the damage, "it feels more real," says NC State athletic director Boo Corrigan.
The Axios sports newsletter is a terrific place to find capsules on what is happening in the world of sports and what it means. Check it out HERE.

Green Alert Take: From this vantage point it's hard to know how this will affect the Ivy League, but it's going to be tough for a lot of schools around the country.
EXTRA POINT
Sorting through papers laying around yesterday I stumbled across a handful of thank you notes I received in the mail several weeks ago from students in a seventh grade ESL class in Pennsylvania. The notes were forwarded by Donors Choose, an organization that raises money nationally for worthy school projects.

So why mention that here? Glad you asked.

As many of you know, I'm a Heisman Trophy voter and have been since my days as the Dartmouth beat writer for the local daily. Each year as a thank you for participating, the Heisman folks used to send us a gray T-shirt with some kind of Heisman graphic on it, along with a glossy Heisman magazine. They still send the magazine but several years ago ditched the T-shirt in favor of a $50 gift card to use for whatever Donors Choose project we'd like. The T-shirts were one-of-a-kind but Donors Choose is better.

My sister was an elementary school teacher and then school librarian in a depressed area and when the Heisman people first made the switch I'd touch base with her about worthy projects that she knew about. The last several years I checked for projects around here, as well as near where I grew up. This year I found a project to support near my old Pennsylvania stomping ground.

After finding the thank you notes yesterday I visited the Donors Choose site and found this alert: Coronavirus Program Update: With schools closed across the country, teachers need supplies for students at home to keep them learning. Seeing that the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation was going to match gifts yesterday I sent a gift to an organization I had never heard of back when the gray T-shirts were coming in the mail and wouldn't have known about if not for the Heisman Trophy vote. So kudos to the Heisman organization for doing the right thing. If you are interested in learning more, visit Donors Choose HERE.
