A few observations . . .

Some folks don't realize it but with eight teams the Ivy League plays seven league games, which means some teams will have four conference games at home and three on the road, while others have three at home and four on the road. Here's this year's breakdown

Four home Ivy League games: Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Princeton
Three home Ivy League games: Dartmouth, Harvard, Penn, Yale

Penn has just three home Ivy League games but six home games in total. The Quakers play a whopping five of their first six games at Franklin Field, a span interrupted only by an Oct. 3 trip to Dartmouth.

When was the last time an Ivy League school played two military opponents in a single year? Princeton opens at home against Virginia Military Institute and plays Oct. 10 at Army.

For a few years early in Buddy Teevens' second stint at Dartmouth the Big Green had its five longest road trips in the same year. In order they were at Colgate, at Penn, at Columbia, at Cornell and at Princeton. Fortunately, that changed over time but this year's road schedule is almost as brutal with games at Towson (Baltimore area), at Columbia, and at Princeton and Cornell in consecutive weeks. The only easy drive is to Yale on Oct. 10 and that's still 190 miles.

Ivy League non-conference opponents:
Patriot League – 13 games
CAA – 3 games
Northeast – 3 games
Pioneer – 2 games
Big South – 1 game
Northeast-10 – 1 game
Independent – 1 game
Before you spend too much time mulling over those schedules and making travel arrangements, consider this headline on a CBS Sports story (LINK):
Alabama football: At least five players have reportedly tested positive for the coronavirus
Players have begun to return to campus ahead of voluntary workouts
And this one (LINK) . . .
Three Oklahoma State players test positive for coronavirus, freshmen told not to report to campus
And another (LINK) . . .
Two Marshall players, one staffer test positive for COVID-19
EXTRA POINT
After walking Griff the Wonder Dog early this morning I turned on the TV to get a few headlines. I then spun over to ESPN where I watched part of an inning of Korean baseball and got a good chuckle. Instead of empty stands or realistic cardboard fan  cutouts that I saw the last time I happened across a game, this is a screen grab of what I saw:

Here's a blow-up of part of that picture:

To quote the great Adrian Monk, here's the thing: Together with the quiet buzz of crowd noise added to the broadcast, it worked. Really. Not only wasn't I bothered by the non-traditional fans and fake sound, I kind of liked it. Strange times, I know.
