Uh . . .

Following in the footsteps of "Dartmouth University" and "Dartmouth College University," sharp eyes have stumbled across a different kind of mistake on Twitter. This time it is a potential recruit gaining an "offer" from Dartmouth College but Tweeting a picture from . . . wait for it . . . a Dartmouth High School game in Massachusetts:

Not surprisingly, there is a debate raging about the familiar-looking Dartmouth High School mascot. (LINK)

Craig Haley over at The Analyst has a Tweet that reads:

Only one program can win a fourth straight league title in the FCS this season: Holy Cross in the Patriot League. The Crusaders will open spring practices tomorrow.

Dartmouth, of course, will be bidding for a third consecutive Ivy League title in the fall.

Green Alert Take: Give that both programs are back at the top of their games, wouldn't it be fun to see them square off once again? Unfortunately, Dartmouth schedules through 2024 have been posted and Holy Cross does not appear.

Dartmouth and Holy Cross faced each other every year but two between 1942 and 1993.  After playing sporadically in the '90s, the teams met up every year from 2000 through 2018, with the exception of 2015.

Here's how the series played out since Buddy Teevens returned to Dartmouth in 2005:

Thanks to winning the last four matchups, Dartmouth now has a 40-37-4 record in the all-time series with the Crusaders.

EXTRA POINT
That note in this space yesterday about trading cars with Mrs. BGA so I could make it through the mud to my regular hiking trail thanks to her all-wheel drive? File that one under Wishful Thinking.

No, I didn't get stuck yesterday. Between the mud I was already battling and the good ol' boy in the huge four-wheel drive pickup truck coming in my direction shaking his head, I thought better of continuing on and made a last-second K-turn before things could get uglier.

Plan B was a hike up Tucker Mountain, about a half mile farther from our Vermont hillside home in a different direction. The road to that trailhead was still mostly frozen so I was able to make it through. My rewards were beautiful 360-degree views at the top and couple of little waterfalls on the way down. This isn't exactly the stuff of the CBS Sunday Morning's "Moments of Nature," but here's what I saw and heard:
