EXTRA POINT
Thanks to bringing my car in for maintenance we received a free three-month trial of Sirius Radio. I haven't listened to it much – I prefer podcasts or quiet in the car) but on the way back from practice Saturday I had the NFL Draft on Sirius, listening for Andre Iosivas name.

But here's the thing. The pick-by-pick discussion was interrupted just as it was getting interesting for a commercial that lasted, I kid you not, at least 15 minutes. To Sirius' credit, if your car is new enough there's a readout on the "entertainment" screen showing that the commercial is still going on. But this one just dragged on, and on and on while the picks were being made. Annoying doesn't begin to tell the story.

When I first got the car I received a free trial subscription and was stunned to hear 15-minute (or longer?) infomercials for Navage Nasal Care. Yuck. (For the record, I didn't listen for more than a minute or two out of morbid curiosity.)

I'm fine with commercials. And if I really wanted to listen in the car I'd be fine with a subscription fee. But both? I don't think so.

Gimme podcasts any day.
