Elsewhere In Lindy's

Following up on yesterday's reveal of the Lindy's projection for the Ivy League, today a look at how the magazine sees Dartmouth's nonconference opponents faring. (Again, thanks to a loyal reader for sharing.)

CAA
1. William & Mary
2. NEW HAMPSHIRE
3. Richmond
4. Delaware
5. Villanova
6. Elon
7. Rhode Island
8. Monmouth
9. Towson
10. Albany
11. Stoney Brook
12. North Carolina A&T
13. Maine
14. Hampton
15. Campbell

Dartmouth opens at New Hampshire on Sept. 16.

 PATRIOT LEAGUE
1. Holy Cross
2. Fordham
3. Lafayette
4. COLGATE
5. Bucknell
6. LEHIGH
7. Georgetown

Dartmouth plays host to Lehigh on Sept. 23 in the Big Green's home opener, and travels to Colgate on Oct. 14.

Green Alert Take: Given a choice, this is pretty much the perfect nonconference Dartmouth schedule. Playing intrastate rival New Hampshire is a no-brainer and playing two Patriot League schools is a brainer given their emphasis on top-notch academics. The only thing that would make the schedule better would be to sub in longtime rival Holy Cross as one of the Patriot foes.

Green Alert Take II: The CAA is barely recognizable these days. Charter members were New Hampshire, Delaware, Hofstra, James Madison, Maine, Northeastern, Rhode Island, Richmond, Towson, Massachusetts, Villanova, and William & Mary. Campbell and NC A&T join this year.

Recruiting rules could be changing in the FBS and there will be ramifications that trickle down to the FCS and the Ivy League if the rules do actually change. The biggest problem: The current December Early Signing Day for the big boys is in the same week as the four first-round College Football Playoff games and that's not all. As a story in Sports Illustrated notes, "Coaches are preparing for bowl games, losing or gaining players during the portal window, and juggling their own coaching staff departures or additions. Head coaching moves are also happening."

Clearly, the early signing date as it now stands is hardly ideal, which is why there's talk about either moving the date up as early as August or allowing seniors to "sign" once their senior year begins. Find the SI story about the issue HERE.

While the Ivy League does not recognize letters of intent, prospects who sign the LOI will be off the table for Ivies still hoping to land them earlier than ever if the NCAA makes the change.

Stumbled across this and it made me smile:

And no, our VW bus is not painted like that. ;-)

The bus is part of an inexpensive sticker collection available HERE.

EXTRA POINT
I've got to head outside now and hop on the electric tractor. We're going to be away for three weeks so I'm mowing our lawn and field about as short as I dare so that it's not too horrible when we get back. And there's lots more on our to-do list before the day is through.

We'll be leaving a little before O-Dark-30 tomorrow as we head first to Pittsburgh to see That Certain Nittany Lion '16 and then continue on to Bryce Canyon, Utah, to spend some time with That Certain Dartmouth '14. (As noted a few days ago, the hope is to keep BGA Daily going on a limited basis while we're "On The Road," but we'll see.)
