Kristen Welker, the NBC television White House correspondent was announced yesterday as the next anchor of the venerable Sunday morning program, Meet the Press.

Harvey Welker, Kristen’s father, pursued a career as a consulting cost engineer, specializing in capital cost estimation. He played football during his college years at Dartmouth, where he earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering.
Harvey Welker, who came to Hanover from Mansfield, Ohio, was listed as a 5-foot-11, 195-pound guard on the 1962 Dartmouth football team. (Six of the 12 guards were listed at less than 200 pounds and only two were more than 205 pounds.)
Kristen Welker is a 1998 Harvard graduate.

And so it begins. Or began . . . at 4:30 this morning.
Mrs. BGA and I are en route to Pittsburgh to take That Certain Nittany Lion '16 and several friends out to dinner. Tomorrow morning we head west as we begin the drive to Bryce Canyon, Utah, to visit That Certain Dartmouth '14, a ranger with the National Park Service.
