I made it a point to bicycle up the Beartooth Highway in Montana and Wyoming after reading that Charles Kuralt called it the most beautiful road in the country. I've bicycled and driven up the Pacific Coast Highway, which is certainly in the conversation for that honor. The Overseas Highway to Key West wowed me and in our part of the world, New Hampshire's Kankamagus Highway in the fall is hard to beat.
Yesterday Mrs. BGA and I drove from Bryce Canyon National Park to Capitol Reef National Park and I'm here to tell you Utah Scenic Byway 12 doesn't have to take a back seat to any of 'em. Around every turn one or the other – or both of us – would be saying, "Whoa!"
