Sammy McCorkle shares a laugh during Dartmouth's Football 101 celebration earlier this week. Check out the sweet video from the event posted in the program's social media by clicking the photo above or HERE.

And for once, I'm not warning you to turn down the volume on a video, but rather to click the speaker icon and actually let it play!

Charts posted as part of the BGA Premium opponent series include the average finish in the Ivy League standings by each of the eight schools over the past five seasons. Can't say I had it figured this way:

Yale 2.2

Dartmouth 2.4

Princeton 2.8

Penn  4.0

Columbia 4.2

Harvard 4.2

Cornell 5.2

Brown 7.6

A reminder that BGA Premium has begun daily postings with a look at Dartmouth's opponents over a 10-day span. The Lehigh preview went up last night and the New Hampshire preview will be posted this evening. Practice reports begin one week from tomorrow. If you want to keep reading after tonight, be sure to sign up HERE or HERE.

Kevin Kelly, who coached running backs under Buddy Teevens at Dartmouth in 1991, spent three years with Teevens at Tulane and then returned to the Big Green to coach linebackers under John Lyons in 1995,  is returning once again to New Hampshire. This time he will serve as head coach of the new program at New England College, a school of roughly 1,775 undergraduates in Henniker, N.H., about 60 miles southeast of Dartmouth. From a story in the Concord Monitor (LINK):

After a half-century without a football team, New England College has named Kevin Kelly as its new head coach. Kelly will lead the program as the sport prepares to return to play for the 2024 season.

And . . .

Kelly comes to Henniker with a good deal of coaching experience. He was the head coach at Georgetown University from 2006-13, winning Patriot League Coach of the Year honors for the 2011 season. He also has a Granite State connection, having served two stints as an assistant at Dartmouth, winning an Ivy League championship with head coach Buddy Teevens in 1991.

Find a press release introducing Kelly on the New England College website HERE

Kelly led Georgetown to an 8-3 record in 2011 and a tie for second place in the Patriot League standings. He left the Hoyas after a 2-9 finish in 2013 to become defensive coordinator at Ball State under Pete Lembo, who he had worked alongside at Dartmouth.

From a story on the Colorado Buffaloes Wire headlined, Colorado football 2023 state of the position: Defensive line (LINK):

Shane Cokes has been getting a lot of publicity this offseason as he has the makings of a captain for the Buffs. Cokes racked up 53 tackles and 4.5 sacks for the Dartmouth Big Green in 2022.

EXTRA POINT

With yet another day punctuated by drenching rain in the books it was a beautiful morning to hit my soggy trail. The view from the top just after 6 a.m. was glorious:

As you may have surmised, we've had a rainy, rainy summer in these parts, but the sky is expected to be relatively clear tonight, which should afford good views of the Perseid meteor shower. It is expected to peak this weekend.

Oh, and one unfortunate thing from the skies. Here in our part of Vermont we've crossed a threshold that disappoints me. Sunset last night was 8:01. Today? 7:59.
