One Win Away

Former Dartmouth running back Noah Roper had 11 carries for 73 yards along with three receptions for 18 yards and a touchdown while helping top-ranked Colorado School of Mines (14-0) to a 35-7 win over Kutztown (12-3) yesterday in the Division II semifinals in front of 5,294 in Golden, Colo..

Roper and the Orediggers will bid for their first national championship against third-ranked Harding University Saturday in a game to be broadcast nationally on ESPNU at 1 p.m. Eastern.

Roper now has a team-high 951 yards and 16 touchdowns on the ground along with 17 catches for 176 yards and three touchdowns through the air this fall.

In the clips from the TV news report below, Roper catches the second TD throw. Watch through to the end to see one of the great college mascots.  ;-)

Speaking of grad transfers, the Inside The Panthers FanNation page hints that Pitt has interest in its second Dartmouth product in three years. Find a short story HERE that includes this graphic:

If Ayers should end up at Pitt he would be following in the footsteps of quarterback Derek Kyler '21, who joined the Panthers in '22 but did not see the field.

The only new offer going public for a Dartmouth player is to running back Joey Richmond, who reported on Xwitter hearing from Roosevelt University, an NAIA program in Chicago.

I've been humming the theme song all morning.

If you remember the show from the early 1970s you may get a kick out of Oscar Madison and Howard Cosell getting after each other in this clip from YouTube:
