From the "go figure" department, rather than pull together a preview, The Dartmouth bizarrely chooses this week to post a story headlined Despite football’s strong start, tailgating lags behind; Students and alumni have noticed a lack of tailgating on campus, even after the Big Green’s impressive 6-0 start to the season. The Harvard Crimson has a story under the promising headline Ivy League to Consider Allowing Football Teams to Play in Postseason but when you read it down there isn't much meat on the bones. Find the story HERE.

Over the last few days someone posted a video ranking Ivy League fight songs. There's no explanation for how the rankings were made but it's still kind of fun to have the songs all in one place:
Green Alert Take: I've made this suggestion before and it fell on deaf ears (that's true but meant as a joke) and I'll make it again because it's pretty sad seeing just a few dozen people in The Dartmouth football stands 20 minutes before a game.
Although the players are back inside after going through their warmups the PA system is absolutely blaring music that most of the demographic attending Ivy League games these days doesn't know and I'd argue has absolutely no interest in hearing. My suggestion is the PA instead play songs like Boomer Sooner, Rocky Top, On Wisconsin, Michigan's The Victors, USC's Fight On and the Ivy League fight songs to build on the football excitement. And here's the thing: I actually think the players would enjoy it.

EXTRA POINT
After Dartmouth played at Harvard on Oct. 29, 2011 the Crimson home page looked like this:
A foot of snow – or more – started falling in Boston during the game and before it was finished one Massachusetts town had seen 32 inches of accumulation.
I bring that up because yesterday in Hanover at 2 p.m. the temperature was a record 79 degrees. You read that right.
The high here in our Vermont town a half hour north of Hanover was 75 degrees and just to be able to say we did it, Mrs. BGA and I went for another quick dip at our local lake. I kind of wish the warm weather had held off for another day so we could say we swam in northern New England in November, but hopping in (and out of) the water on Halloween is almost as memorable as a foot of snow starting to fall in an Ivy League Week Seven football game. ;-)
