Happy New Year!

#

Nothing much to report today except this news that broke yesterday (italics are mine):

The Green Bay Packers signed S Johnathan Baldwin and QB Clayton Tune from the practice squad to the active roster, signed G Karsen Barnhart, CB Tyron Herring and QB Desmond Ridder to the practice squad, and placed S Zayne Anderson and CB Nate Hobbs on injured reserve. The transactions were announced Wednesday by General Manager Brian Gutekunst.

From the story:

Herring (6-1, 201) originally signed with Green Bay as an undrafted free agent on May 2, 2025, but was released after training camp. After spending part of this season on the practice squad of the New England Patriots, he was on the Packers' practice squad in Weeks 9-14. Herring began his career at Dartmouth College (2019-22) before finishing at the University of Delaware (2023-24). He was named fourth-team All-Ivy League in 2022, honorable mention All-CAA in 2023 and second-team All-CAA in 2024. He will wear No. 46 for the Packers.

EXTRA POINT

The Rocky and Bullwinkle balloons are fine, but if you ask me the rest of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade TV broadcast is nothing more than vacuous morning show hosts fawning over B-grade musical acts badly lip-synching songs I never heard of and never need to hear again.

Now you'll have to excuse me while I head downstairs before I miss a second of the Tournament of Roses Parade.

It's a little like the difference between the "Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl presented by Gin & Juice by Dre and Snoop," and the Rose Bowl Game.
